History

Leading up to the 2024 Summer Olympics, Nike put together what they were calling the Electric Pack. A number of sneakers for various sports that all carried a similar Safari-branded motif. Why is the safari motif called “electric”? I have no idea.
One thing I do know, however, is that by far the most anticipated of the like up was the sneaker we have here today: The Nike Dunk Low SB Electric Pack. This wasn’t even the only skateboarding sneaker featured in the lineup, with a Blazer, Janoski, and the new PS8 also coming in similar color blocking. However, while pretty all the other Electric Packs that released to the public sat, these – kind of – sold out.
However, while these might have been a hit with the public, the same can’t be said with the skaters themselves. Horigome, who took home a gold, wore his own Dunks. Rayssa, with bronze, too. Should you consider bucking the trend and picking up this pair for yourself? Let’s dive in and find out.
Looks
Upper

You can say a lot of things about the upper of the Nike Dunk Low SB Electric, but subtle isn’t one of them. The majority of the upper is made up of a black and white pattern somewhere between polka dots and leopard print. It covers the toe guard as well as the back panel. At first glance you might think it’s suede, though closer inspection shows that it’s a man-made material attached to a leather backing.
On the toe box and midfoot panel, a light grey makes up the midfoot panel. Again, while at first glance this appears to be leather, it’s a man-made material as well. Finishing off the exterior of the upper, a black suede panel matches the black swoosh.

As for laces, a bright blue pair comes pre-laced, though there is black if you want to tone down the look a little bit. Though, come on, these are polka dotted shoes. Just go for the blue.
Inside, a burnt orange liner matches the Nike SB tag on the padded tongue and Nike Logo around the back.
Overall, this isn’t the highest quality build Nike has ever put out. There are several loose threads and glue stains on this particular pair. I’ve seen worse and wouldn’t get rid of this pair due to the way they came, but Nike can do better.
By the way, if you’re wondering what the difference between the regular Dunk and the Dunk SB is, you can find a comparison here.
Mid and Outsole

Compared to the in-your-face upper, the bottom half of the Nike Dunk Low SB Electric is fairly tame. A white midsole is mated to black stitching and a black outsole.
Flipping the sneaker over, you’ll find that classic Dunk Low SB pattern. A radial tread pattern up front with a block pattern in the rear should do a great job gripping a skateboard or the sidewalk. The exposed foam in the middle comes in a brunt orange as well, and you can find the Nike SB logo pressed into it.
Summary

The Nike Dunk Low SB Electric Pack might not be for everyone, but I have to say – it’s great for a Dunk SB. It’s loud and in your face, but that’s kind of the point. Ever since Nike has made a commitment for the standard colors on SB Dunk Lows to always be in stock, the focus is less on if you can get a pair at all, and more on how to display your own personal style.
While I’m not sure this make up fits the look I’m going for in 2024, I’m sure there is someone out there who will make these look great.
Fit & Comfort
Fit

The Nike Dunk Low SB Electric fits like any other Dunk Low SB – and that means tight. For those of you lucky enough to have half sizes to go up to, I’d definitely recommend going up a half size from what you typically wear in standard Dunks or Jordan 1s.
However, if you’re like my size 13 and can’t go up a half size, you can get away with your standard size. The issue is around the padding of the sneaker, rather than the last itself. Give it some time, and the padding will compress a bit. Just not an ideal fit.
Comfort

When it comes to comfort Nike Dunk Low SB Electric is not the pair I’d grab if you’re going to be walking all day. Not only is there almost no padding in them, the upper material makes these extra stiff.
I’m sure that they will improve a little bit with time, but this is definitely a pair that is more for looking at than wearing hard.
Materials & Construction
Materials

We already covered this in the looks section, but it’s pretty clear from the materials that the goal of the Nike Dunk Low SB Electric was first and foremost to get the style. How those materials feel and perform comes second.
Nearly the entire upper is made of man-made material. Getting a closer look there might be a leather backing but, if so, it would be incredibly thin. Just a millimeter or two. The swoosh and heel tab are faux leather as well.
On the tongue, Nike decided to switch it up with a much thicker nylon. This definitely fits the “safari” theme with the coarser weave used. There is foam padding in the tongue, as well as on the ankle pads behind your foot covered by a polyester lining.
Under foot, it’s all classic Nike Dunk Low SB. A fairly thick insole contains a small zoom air unit under your heel. Below that insole is just the hard rubber of the outsole.
While I would have loved to see higher end materials on a Dunk labeled as part of their premium line, I do think it’s important to note that using materials like real leather would likely mean less pop on the upper. Whites and light greys are hard to get on leather due to the way it is tanned, so if you want this exact look, the trade off might be worth it to you.
Construction

The Nike Dunk Low SB Electric is built like every other Dunk using a cup sole construction. To make a shoe this way, the upper is sewn and lasted. Then, it is glued to a cup sole. Finally, a row of stitching goes around the top of the cup sole to ensure everything stays in place.
This form of construction offers great durability. If the glue fails, the stitches are there to protect it. As for tradeoffs, this type of sneaker is going to be less flexible, and costs a bit more to make.
Pricing

The Nike Dunk Low SB Electric launched with a retail price of $125. While it looks like they have sold out in every size on the major websites, resale is pretty reasonable. Most sizes are under retail enough that even with fees you’re going to pay about what you would at retail. Though, a few of the bigger sizes are $10 or $20 over.
If you’re just looking for any Dunk Low SB, there are more affordable options out there. However, if you want one of the safari themed colorways, this is going to be the most affordable option. The 2020 model is closer to $300, and other colorways are even more.
Are the Nike Dunk Low SB Electric Worth It?

When it comes to the Nike Dunk Low SB Electric, or Olympic Safari, I’m not sure this one will be remembered as one of the greats. Nobody will be keeping these sealed in a box for the next time the big SB wave comes around.
That being said, nobody is trying to charge the money for that either.
Ultimately, these are a fairly affordable Dunk Low SB that will stand out when you wear them for a reasonable price. You’re trading material quality for looks, but that isn’t an inherently bad thing.
I’m not sure they are the right pair for me, but I wouldn’t try and tell you they are not the right pair for you.
